MEET MOUTH PAINTER - JONG KWAN PARK
Born in Chungnam Onyang, South Korea, Jong Kwan Park was left quadriplegic following a workplace accident in 1986. After spending four years in hospital, Jong Kwan was looking for a new direction in life when a professor introduced him to painting. Inspired by the experience, he began developing his own mouth-painting technique.
In 1993, Jong Kwan became a Scholarship Holder of the VDMFK, giving him the opportunity to devote more time to developing his art. He became an Associate Member the following year and, after many years of dedication to his craft, became a Full Member in 2023.
Jong Kwan is particularly drawn to painting flowers, creating original still-life compositions in vivid colours. He also enjoys painting landscapes and animals, often combining intense colours with an abstract style. He primarily works in oil paints and has won several painting competitions throughout his career.
His work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, allowing his distinctive style and creativity to be shared with audiences both in Korea and internationally.
Through his art and his work with young people, Yohai continues to turn his own experience into an opportunity to inspire and connect with others.
