MEET MOUTH PAINTER - ALANA TILLMAN
Born in Daly City, California, Alana Tillman discovered her love of art at an early age. Born with arthrogryposis, Alana has never been able to use her arms or hands, but she quickly learned that she could write, draw and paint using her mouth.
While undergoing several surgeries at Shriners Children's Hospital, Alana took part in art projects for children. By the age of 12, she had begun painting seriously and continued to develop her skills through self-directed study. She later attended Santa Rosa Junior College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Fine Arts and Liberal Arts.
Alana has always enjoyed exploring different artistic styles and techniques. Her work ranges from Pop Art to Impressionism, and she works in a variety of mediums, including pen and Indian ink, paper and acrylic on canvas.
Her passion for creativity also extends to working with others. As part of a local after-school programme, Alana helped create colourful backdrops for children's street theatre productions, working alongside primary school children.
Today, Alana continues to explore new ideas through her art, creating expressive and colourful works that reflect her creativity, versatility and unique perspective.
