ABOUT THE ARTIST

In June 1988, Mariusz Maczka was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a fracture of his C4/C5 cervical vertebrae and left him paralyzed in all four limbs. Since then, he has relied on a wheelchair for mobility.

Five years after the accident, he discovered painting as a new means of expression—using his mouth to guide the brush. What began as a courageous experiment soon developed into a true passion. From the outset, he demonstrated remarkable dedication and talent, making rapid artistic progress.

In 2000, he was accepted as a Student Member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. His continued development and artistic achievement led to his appointment as an Associate Member of VDMFK in 2007.

Working primarily in oils, Mariusz Maczka favors still lifes, landscapes, flowers, and animals as his subjects. He is especially drawn to horses, whose strength and grace frequently inspire his compositions. Over the years, he has presented his mouth-painted works in numerous exhibitions, earning recognition and admiration from audiences alike.
